It Won’t Be Too Long Now
by Isaac Anderson (The Well Dressed Downs -- 2009)
It won’t be too long now
There’s a weight that’s pressing down
There’s a swelling in the belly of the world
It won’t be too long now
There’s a Son Who’s pressing down
There’s a swelling in the belly of the world
So welcome to the end of your sorrows
Welcome to the end of yourself
Welcome to tomorrow – where hope lives
about
This is a great song of hope that my friend Isaac wrote with his band (The Well Dressed Downs) last Advent season. It really fit with a message that Jessi Marcus gave at Jacob's Well the last Sunday in Advent 2010, so I broke it out. It got a great response from people. One of those people was a friend of mine named Nick Welch. He's pretty much just an all around great guy.
He posted a message to me asking if I'd come over and sing it while he fell asleep that night. I wanted to do that, but realized that it wasn't realistic. I thought, I'll make a nice recording of the song so Nick can have a copy. Then I became obsessed with the song...I kept singing it over and over to myself (even waking up at 3am singing it). So I recorded it the next day. On my way to Jacob's Well I had a thought about the song. I thought, I'll post it up on bandcamp and see if anyone will buy it. Then I remembered that Nick and his wife Katie had just experienced a few weeks of pretty big financial set-backs - one was a really large hospital bill.
I thought, this song is sounding pretty good - it's worth as least much money as a cup of coffee at Starbuck's. I'll see if people will pay $2 (or more) for it, and then I'll give all that money to Nick and Katie. So what do you think? Are you in? Come on, it's at least as sweet as a Chai Latte & will definitely get your heart beating like that $2 cup of caffeine...
Welcome to the end of your sorrows indeed!

It may not be a full-fledged LP, but All Delighted People is probably my favourite of Sufjan's works. Without an overaching album theme to tie the songs together, it felt like Sufjan was free to experiment on each track and give them their own unique sound. And because of that (and Sufjan's talent), every track on there is a standout track. Angkasawan
